The course on SHIFTING THE PARADIGM: TRANSFORMING THE APPROACH TO SECONDARY TRICUSPID REGURGITATION WITH PRECISION ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY will be held May 15th -16th, 2026, and feature a clinically applicable program aimed at the sonographer/practitioner directly involved in assessing patients with tricuspid regurgitation by echocardiography.

Secondary tricuspid regurgitation is a complex and increasingly recognized condition that significantly impacts right heart function and overall patient outcome. Traditional echocardiographic parameters developed for mitral regurgitation may not adequately capture the severity or hemodynamic consequences of secondary tricuspid regurgitation, underscoring the need of dedicated condition-specific metrics. Accurate assessment is essential for timely intervention, and untreated secondary tricuspid regurgitation can lead to progressive right heart failure, reduced cardiac output, and poor prognosis. Advanced echocardiographic techniques, including 3D imaging, myocardial deformation analysis, and artificial intelligence applications, offer deeper insights into quantification of tricuspid regurgitation, and right heart mechanics, and guide optimal treatment strategies, whether medical, surgical or transcatheter. By refining these dedicated parameters. Clinicians can better stratify risk, tailor interventions, and improve long-term outcome for patients with secondary tricuspid regurgitation, ultimately transforming the paradigm of care for this challenging condition.  A strong emphasis will be placed on practical aspects of data acquisition from models in the echo lab, and analysis of raw datasets on dedicated workstations.

  • Understand the limits of conventional echocardiography parameters used to assess patients with secondary tricuspid regurgitation
  • Recognize the clinical application of advanced echo imaging techniques in the assessment of patients with tricuspid regurgitation.
  • Improve acquisition of quality 3D datasets
  • Perform 3D analysis to assess the right ventricle, the right atrium and the tricuspid valve
  • Perform strain imaging analysis to assess the right ventricle and the right atrium
  • Imaging the tricuspid valve during transcatheter procedures
  • Learning how rest and exercise right heart cardiac catheterization associated with 3D echocardiography can improve the accuracy of your assessment of tricuspid regurgitation severity and its pathophysiology
